Living Land - Episode 3: Urban to Rural Migration

Acclaimed Motswako rapper Motlapele “Mojo Man” Morule, better known as Mo’ Molemi, has exchanged the jet-setting lifestyle of a full-time musician for that of a dedicated farmer and part-time solo artist. Mo is now fully in tune with his crops and livestock on his Northwest Province farm in the Ramathlabama district. He is a man who thinks deeply about life and by making this change, he is answering a call from deep within his soul – farming is in his blood. His mixed farming operation boasts a successful balance of cattle, chickens, maize and sunflowers. Not far from Mo’s farm – still in the same district – we also visit a former big city corporate executive. So, what is it that draws these former city slickers to a life on the farm? That’s what this episode sets out to discover. Tsholofelo Penyenye runs a highly impressive cattle and goat farm in the warm sunshine of the Bushveld. As is the case with Mo, she too could not resist the call of the land and now makes a happy living in the wide-open spaces.
